The Howards Farm Cottages Are Ready For Sale!

The Kitchens: All 3 Cottages are different. You can chose from a combination of black, white and red or cream, gold and toffee. All the kitchens have Bosch appliances, flick down TVs and wine coolers. There is a breakfast bar and generous cupboards and storage together with integrated appliances, microwave, dishwasher and induction hob.

The Bathrooms and Cloakrooms have quality fittings from Burge and Gunson, tiles from Style Tiles and are not the usual “beige” developers choice! Each house also has an ensuite shower room to the master bedroom and fitted cupboards in all 3 bedrooms.

The Show Must Go On!

The Woking team remained undeterred by Mother Nature’s torrents of rain and wind,which saw the builders knee-deep in muddy puddles! Nevertheless, the show went on, with the commencement of the installation of the kitchens and bathrooms taking centre stage! Take a look at just how far they have come along.

With the exterior coming together, the focus has firmly moved the inside of our cottages up at Howards Farm, and the plastering and laying of the floor is in full swing!

Autumn Progress

Finally after it stopped raining, work began in earnest and the result as you can see are three almost built country cottages! The staircases are now being installed- bathrooms and bedrooms are taking shape, kitchens are planned and the buying frenzy has begun! The interior design will be modern, different and chosen with extreme attention to detail mindful of today’s living requirements. On schedule for completion December.

It has been a busy few month on site, and the boys have been beavering away, working their magic to get the three cottages errected from the ground, and the transition has been phenominal. Take a look and see how far they have come in just four months!

Work experience on site for Fairbridge

Give it Away are offering work experience placements at Howard’s Farm to young people registered with Fairbridge at either Hackney or Kennington who are looking to learn some building trade skills.Jeff Wye and his team are very willing to offer hands on apprenticeships to these disadvantaged youngsters. We may even find them a new career! Jeff has been mentoring Barry for two weeks on site and he loved the experience! For more details visit www.fairbridge.org.uk.

Small Steps, Putney – A Revisit

Knowing that Small Steps has a year end of April I thought it was time to pop in for a cup of tea (and cake of course!) to see how fund raising was going and to meet some new little ones. It was a “Birthday” day so it seemed right that they received a donation of £5,000! We did agree that this was an expensive afternoon tea but as these pictures show we had fun! Small Steps is very dear to my heart –they receive no statutory funding and need £250,000 a year to survive. They do it – the parents are dedicated in their support and the staff team work tirelessly at fund raising at the same time as running the school. They are going to visit the Peto Institute in Budapest next month, who specialise in conductive therapy for children with special needs so will be bringing further expertise home with them.

Small Steps is vital to the children who visit but also to the parents – this is what Anita said after I left:

“I’m so pleased that the parents continue to say good things about how important Small Steps is to them (note; no prompting from me). I am conscious that as we have become more established as a charity, it’s harder to promote the fact to parents that we function in the voluntary sector and reliant on all the fundraising/donations etc behind the scenes. Your visit prompted much debate amongst the parents present and once again it was agreed that you are a truly remarkable woman.”

New Development To Start In Woking

Give it Away is delighted to report that a new building project is about to start! It is always hard to find the right development at the right time but I feel after a long period waiting for the property market to recover, this is a good opportunity for me. Howards Farm in Stockers Lane, Woking is a site for development for 5 new houses. I will be building 3 of those. These new houses will have a cottage style feel and look to them in keeping with the site which is on the outskirts of Woking, surrounded by parks and trees. Rail and road links to London are excellent which is perhaps why Woking is currently going through a period of building expansion. These 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom properties with garaging and good size gardens will appeal to both families and individuals wanting easy access to transport and cities but without living in a town centre.

We will make them modern and up to date inside – we will put in great kitchens, bathrooms and tiles in a bid to make sure that they will not be “beige developer’s home!” I am looking forward to the challenge again of new builds and work begins in earnest on May 3^rd. I will bring all the major events and pictures to this website and day to day updates via Twitter and youtube. For more details see the “news” and “in progress” section. So I am back out there looking for deals and support for this project in order to maximise the bottom line to Give Away! We envisage finishing by the end of this year with profits hopefully showing in early 2012 ready for distribution to my chosen Charities.
