London Early Years Foundation Research clearly shows that high quality care and education makes a huge difference to the long term success of all children, especially those from more vulnerable backgrounds or in poverty. By investing in a child’s learning from the start, we not only reap great benefits as a society but also enable children and their families to contribute directly back into their own communities.

Great Ormond Street Hospital in London is home to one of the largest and most successful pediatric cardio-respiratory teams in the world. Every year they care for more than 7,000 children and babies with complex heart and lung conditions and share their expertise with other hospitals across the world to help many thousands more. However, despite their success the cardio-respiratory team have to contend with being housed in outdated, overcrowded facilities that is preventing them from breaking new ground even faster.
The Tick Tock Club was set up in 2006 to address this by raising £10 million towards a new Heart and Lung Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This urgently needed cardio-respiratory Centre will enable the cardiac team to treat greater numbers of children, develop more pioneering techniques and ultimately save the lives of more young patients affected by life-threatening heart and lung disorders.
